Message Ok here is the situation that I am in currently

A month or so ago my Z began knocking at the track. Once I heard the knocking I immediately shut it down and only drove 5 mins on it, then trailored it the rest of the way home

I havent taken it apart yet but I am almost for certain that its a spun or thrown bearing. I did notice the oil pressure was extremely low as well

Now the problem

I am looking at a rebuild for sure, but how to go about this. My Z only has 92k miles on it, but If I'm going to have the motor out, I should probably go ahead and do turbos as well.

My older brother (shop owner/mechanic) is strongly suggesting to me that I go "built" (wiseco pistons, eagle h-beams, etc). His main motive is asking me "Do i want it to happen again?" Although he brings a valid point, is it necessary to go built considering the high amount of stock bottom end Z's putting out very large numbers. My personal plans only really involve SP500's or equivalents over the next few years because I'm still in college and there really is no need to try and set any records, lol.

My other option besides going "built" is to basically do a stock rebuild and a machine shop balance on the rotating assembly. If I did this I would be able to replace the turbos (since the engine is going to be out) and not have to worry about that.

I do not have enough money to do BOTH of the above options, but do keep in mind all the machine work as well as labor I will not pay for (sponsorship/family stuff) Parts will also come at wholesale

IMO the latter of the options would be the best alternative simply because of the number of Z's out there that are doing just fine on stock blocks (mine will be better somewhat because of the balancing) but I am really looking for people's opinions so I have half an argument when I go to my brother with a decision, otherwise he is just going to try and tell me I read to much on the internet, etc.

Thanks for the responses
